JTT Update 05/26/2020
This email was sent to JTT Facility Coordinators.
In these unprecedented times, USTA Colorado is looking for new ways to support tennis providers. Please read all information below as this is a very important update about JTT for 2020.
The 2020 JTT League has been cancelled (standard format).
2020 Options
- Run an in-house league* with USTA Colorado’s administrative assistance and software support (registration on TennisLink, scheduling league, stats & standings, player/coach support, etc.)
- Allow your players to compete against other nearby facilities who are also interested in a joint league with USTA Colorado’s administrative assistance and software support
- Run an in-house league on your own
*** Note: In-house leagues can be set up using a flexible format and do not have to follow the standard JTT format. If you are interested in option 1 or 2 above, please contact us.
Summary
As we have been assessing the tennis landscape and working to determine how to put together a successful JTT league for 2020, it has become apparent that there are far too many unique situations in existence from city to city, county to county and facility to facility to run a formal JTT league this year. Many facilities are already looking at ways to incorporate more of an in-house program this year instead of the standard JTT program.
Our mission is to “promote and develop the sport of tennis”. With that in mind, we feel the best way for us to do this, given the situation with COVID-19, is to support providers wherever our assistance is needed to provide youth play opportunities for 2020.
While we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the JTT league for 2020, we still want kids to have opportunities to play and we still have the ability to help run a successful league for any provider that would like to partner with us to provide a USTA Colorado sanctioned in-house junior league for 2020.
Our recommendation for 2020 is for all providers to offer an in-house league for their JTT players. This allows facilities to start and end their league based on dates that work for their program. USTA Colorado would be happy to setup your in-house league in TennisLink and to create schedules for your league based on your specific facility parameters. This would allow players to input scores and watch their standings as the season progresses.
The league is very flexible and can be tailored to meet your facility, parent and player needs.
Provider Decisions
(options with USTA Colorado’s Administrative Assistance)
- Determine your league dates
- Determine some optional criteria:
- # of round robins
- # of matches
- Divisions and Levels being offered (combined age divisions/ability levels, coed, gender specific, etc.)
- Competition Format: Play can be structured as either individual matches or team matches (similar to ladders, in-house tournaments, standard leagues or flex leagues)
- Scoring format (Best of 3 sets, 3rd set tiebreak, 8 game pro-set, etc.)
- When registration is complete, you can let us know if you would like players split into flights
USTA Colorado Responsibilities
- Set up league in TennisLink
- Create divisions/flights and teams
- Create round robin schedules and publish online
- Provide TennisLink support for players on items such as registration questions and score entry problems
Fees
- $12/player singles, $12/player doubles + any additional fees that the provider wants to charge
Rules
- Play will follow the USTA In-House League Guidelines
- Rules may be modified by the host facility if desiered.
If you have enough players to form a standard league team, then you have enough players for an in-house league!
Please contact us if we can be of assistance.
