Ross finishes career in style

Congratulations to two-time Colorado State High School Champion Casey Ross (Littleton, CO) for his selection to the USTA Junior Leadership Team:

The USTA today announced that more than 30 top junior tennis players from around the USTA’s 17 sections were named to the second-annual USTA Junior Leadership Team in recognition of their leadership, sportsmanship and character on and off the court. Each player was nominated by his or her USTA Section for their excellence in tennis and in the community. The entire USTA Junior Leadership Team is attached.

“These players truly are role models who exhibit character well beyond their years, both on the tennis court and in the community,” said Bill Mountford, the USTA’s Director of Junior Tournaments. “We’re happy to have a way to give them some of the recognition they truly deserve with the USTA Junior Leadership Team.”

A frequent winner of sportsmanship awards at events everywhere, Casey recently finished his junior career by capturing the singles and doubles title at the National Level 3 Tournament in Tucson, AZ. USTA Colorado recently featured him in a series of Profiles on Sportsmanship:

“You’d be hard-pressed to find a more decorated player in Colorado tennis history than Casey Ross, the two-time 4A State Champion from Kent Denver (see Prep Competition, page 28). It’s not that Ross has dominated the competition — although he’s certainly no slouch in that department, having won back-to-back-to-back Sectional Championships. He is currently ranked 38th in the country, and No. 1 in both the Intermountain Section and in Colorado. Since he began playing tournaments, the 18 year-old has been recognized for his exceptional sportsmanship on dozens of occasions, most recently at the 2016 Boys 18s Nationals at Kalamazoo, MI where he was named the Wes Richards Sportsmanship Award recipient. This wasn’t the first time Ross has been recognized at the national level. He has received numerous honors at Nationals, Zonals and Sectional events, as well as several USTA Colorado Annual Awards.”  Read more….
