Local Collegians earn regional, national respect

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the men’s and women’s Division I regional award winners on Monday, May 15th, and several players and coaches with ties to the Colorado tennis community have been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for their excellence on and off the court.

WOMEN
Mountain Region

Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year: Christian Thompson – University of Denver
ITA Assistant Coach of the Year: David Loewenthal – University of Denver
ITA Senior Player of the Year: Nuria Ormeno Ruiz – University of Colorado, Boulder
ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award: Chloe Forlini – US Air Force Academy
ITA/Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship: Jucelle Rudico – US Air Force Academy
ITA Community Service Award: University of Colorado, Boulder

Southwest Region
ITA Player to Watch: Ashley Lahey (Boulder, CO) – Pepperdine University

MEN
Mountain Region
ITA Most Improved Player (Senior): Yannik James – Denver
ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award: Lucas Fumagalli – US Air Force Academy

Southeast Region
ITA Assistant Coach of the Year: Bo Hodge (University of Colorado, Boulder graduate) – University of Georgia

The national award winners will be released on Tuesday, May 23rd


Former Cherry Creek Bruins state champ Kelli Woodman was recently named as the Wilson/ITA National Promoter of the Year Award winner.
