Home-court advantage; Colorado holds serve at #17Sectionals

Nearly 450 of the Intermountain Section’s top juniors took to the courts June 10-14 to vie for the chance to earn National endorsements and the prestige of being crowned Sectional Champions. The 2017 USTA Intermountain Summer Closed Championship, dubbed #17Sectionals, welcomed players from across the six-state section, but as the felt settled yesterday afternoon, it was clear that Colorado enjoyed the home-court advantage.

Of the eight singles divisions, Colorado players won half, and were runners-up in three. Colorado was especially dominant in the older divisions, winning the 16s and 18s titles in both boys and girls. In doubles action, Colorado players earned three titles and four runners-up.
