Revised schedule subject to changing situation

Hi Everyone, We hope this email finds you all well. Over the past few weeks, it has become apparent that we will continue to experience change for some time and it’s very difficult to know exactly when things will get back to normal. While we are hopeful that things will improve soon, we want to assure everyone that our first priority is the health and well-being of our community.

We have made some big changes for the Junior Team Tennis (JTT) deadlines and schedule for this season, to ensure the safety of players, parents and providers. Please read the information below and share it with the parents of the players in your program. We are very hopeful that these changes will make it easier to get JTT started smoothly this year and allow time to get as many returning and new players involved as possible.

New JTT Plan for 2020

Extended JTT Deadlines:  We have extended the JTT deadlines by almost one month to provide facilities more time to put teams together and get players registered.

  • Team Creation Deadline – Wed, May 27
  • Minimum Roster Deadline – Fri, May 29 (at least 3 players registered on each team)

League Season:  To reiterate, we will not start play until it is appropriate to do so (following CDC recommendations).

  • First Match – Mon, June 29 (If it is appropriate to start play)
  • Last Match – Mon, Aug 10

State Championships:  Our emphasis for 2020 is local play and we want to provide a full season to all teams. Since we are pushing the deadlines and the season later, there will not be time to run State Championships this year.

FAQs

Will the deadlines be changed again?
No. These deadlines are as late as we can move them.

What happens if the season has to start later than June 29?
We are hopeful that it will be deemed appropriate to resume play by the end of June. If not, we will push the start date later until given approval. The last Monday that will be used for league matches will be August 10If the season runs past that, all remaining matches will be moved to Saturdays.

How many matches will each team get?
We plan to schedule 6-7 matches for each team. The exact number is determined by how many teams are in each flight.

If the season gets moved later, will teams still get 6-7 matches?
Yes; although any matches going past August 10 will be moved to Saturdays.

If we have to use Saturdays later in the season, what time will Saturday matches be played?
Times should be the same as the standard times on Mondays; however, teams may agree to change the times.

What do we do if we have conflicts on August 10 for the last match of the season?
If teams have any conflicts with August 10, we recommend moving the match to Saturday, August 8. If that doesn’t work, teams can work together to reschedule the match.

Will the age cutoff date change?
No. The age of players as of August 3 is still the age that determines their age division.

Will the league fees be the same?
Yes.

If I’ve already registered players and they decide not to play, will there be refunds?
Yes.  We will refund the entire league fee, excluding the $3 active.com fee.

Important Note About Safe Play:
Remember to check the status of your Safe Play compliance and get it renewed before it expires. TennisLink will not allow facility coordinators to create teams if their Safe Play has expired.
