Colorado hosts Team USA Sectional Training Camp
Memorial Day Weekend and Colorado Athletic Club Inverness were the time and place for USTA Colorado’s first ever Team USA Sectional Training Camp.
This 3-day event began with a free high performance coaches training conducted by two leading National coaches – Dave Ramos and Lori Riffice.
Coach Bill Conway from the Tennis Center at Steamboat said, ”It was one of the best National trainings I have been to. I was very happy with it and that our staff was able to attend”.
The top 12 boys and 12 girls from Intermountain were invited to participate in the two day camp along with 8 coaches from throughout the section. Colorado coaches Mike Phillips, Brent Mazza, Peter Richmond and Grigor Arzumanyan represented our district.
Two parent education sessions were held to support accompanying parents. The kids were exposed to advanced athletic skills work, tempo drills, movement patterns, and serve +1 patterns. The camp ended with a Junior Davis Cup and Fed Cup competition.
Participating Colorado players were Amina Abdullaeva, Anna Jordaan, Grace Agster, JoAnna Kennedy, Kaja Jacobson, Natalie Untermeyer, Quinn Bernthal, Bridger Galyardt, Chase Burke, Christian Trevey, Kai Trujillo, Mark Lapko, and Nate Gold.
Many thanks to Anthony Venable and the staff at Inverness for their hospitality and to Tiffany Milner / Intermountain Junior Programs manager for her lead!
